Food Poisoning Doctor in Mallorca: Home Treatment Available

Food poisoning in Mallorca? OnCall doctors visit your accommodation to assess you, prescribe antibiotics and anti-nausea care, and refer for IV rehydration if dehydration is severe. A 1–2 hour arrival and a flat, all-in price.
Food Poisoning in Mallorca: Local Doctor at Your Door
Mallorca is a culinary paradise—but 8 million annual tourists + summer heat = food poisoning risk. One plate of paella or a seafood appetizer at a crowded beachfront restaurant, and you're down for the count.
The Hospital Situation in Mallorca
Hospital Universitari Son Espases (Carretera de Valldemossa, 79, Palma) is Mallorca's main public hospital. ER wait: 2–4 hours during summer season. By the time you're in a bed, severe dehydration has set in.
Hospital de Manacor (smaller, serves eastern Mallorca). Still a 30–40 minute taxi ride if you're in Alcúdia or Deià.
Clínica Rotger (Carrer de la Reina Elisenda, Palma) is private but expensive (€200–300 ER copay) and still requires you to travel.
Why OnCall Instead
OnCall doctor at your hotel delivers:
- Hydration assessment and rehydration guidance (hospital referral for IV rehydration if dehydration is severe)
- Antiemetics (anti-nausea)
- Antibiotics if bacterial suspected
- Electrolyte assessment
- Dietary advice for recovery
A flat, all-in fee. No hidden fees. Arrival: 1–2 hours.
Real Mallorca Context
Local pharmacies stock OTC antiemetics, but without a doctor's exam, you won't know if you need IV fluids or antibiotics.
Farmàcia Central (Palma) and Farmàcia Carme (Alcúdia) are helpful but can't prescribe IV therapy.
OnCall bypasses all travel and fills the gap between home care and the ER.
Prevention Tips
- Eat at busy restaurants (high turnover = fresher food).
- Avoid raw shellfish (mussels, clams, oysters) unless the restaurant has certified cold storage.
- Drink bottled water. Never ice from hotel machines.
- Cooked food > raw in summer months.
- Avoid street food vendors with unclear food handling.
When to Escalate to Hospital
- Blood in stool or vomit
- Fever >39°C + severe abdominal pain
- No urine for >8 hours (severe dehydration)
- Symptoms worsening after 48 hours
Then go to Hospital Son Espases or Hospital de Manacor. OnCall is for typical cases.
Book OnCall: 1–2 hour arrival, food poisoning treated at your hotel. Available across Mallorca (Palma, Alcúdia, Deià, Pollença, Llucmayor).
